Day of Rest
Today was a wonderful day of rest. We have had somebody at our house or plans with somebody everyday for the last couple of weeks. Today was the first day that we did not have any plans. I took the opportunity to sleep in. The kids however, they got up at the usual time. I think the eastern monsoon is coming. Here we have two seasons…. the eastern monsoon and the western monsoon. The high and low temperatures don’t change more than a degree either way. The only change is the direction of the wind. It was really amazing. All the locals said the that it would begin to change in August. For the last week, it has been really still….very little wind. Last night (July 31) I was sitting in our sitting room and could feel a breeze coming in our sliding door. This is the first eastern wind I have felt since we have been here. When I was here in January, the wind was out of the east. Our house seemed about 20 degrees cooler today.___A_OPEN___a href=”http://www.bobbycox.org/blog/uploaded_images/Robots-764486.jpg”___We hung out in the house most of the day today. Our kids were being a little bit crazy. I snapped a picture of Kindy while she was being silly today. She was pretending to be a character on Robots. Can you guess who it was?J is now coming in the evenings, so we went for a swim just before he got here. Just as we were getting cleaned up and ready for dinner, there was a knock at the door. It was a lady and her three children. She had been to our house before. She speaks very little English, but enough to invite Angie to the night market on the main island. So, as I am writing this, Angie is gone to the main island with her friend. I am so proud of Angie and her adventurous attitude. We have never been to the night market, but apparently is for only a couple of weeks a year. From what we have heard, it is a lot like the night market in Thailand…. a lot of stuff you don’t need for sale very cheap. I will have Angie do the post tomorrow so she can tell you all about it.I have to tell you that we tried Ebay and it worked. My birthday is coming up in about a week, and I had been telling Angie that I wanted a running watch. I wanted a watch that used GPS to track your distance. Well the watch I found on Ebay had a heart rate monitor and everything. I decided to give it a shot. Well I won the watch. It was sent from Las Vegas the next day. I think it only took 7 days to get here. It came directly to our house and didn’t get caught up in customs or anything. All this to say, I ordered my watch early so that I might get it by my birthday, and got it on my anniversary. Hip hip hooray for Ebay! I have been getting it set up, so I should be able to tell you in tomorrow’s post how far it is around the island. I know it takes me right at 30 minutes to run around the island.I prepared the newsletter today. I will send it via email tomorrow and those of you who don’t have email (you are probably not reading this) I will send it by post to your home address. It will probably take 10-12 days before it arrives in the mail.We have some new pics from our anniversary party now on our photo page. Take a look.
