Just for fun

I had a conversation with a guy that is planning to move to the islands. He is trying to figure out where he wants to live and he asked me what there was to do for fun on my island. I thought for a minute. He really stumped me. Other than the beach (and we have an awesome beach less than 200 feet from our house) I didn’t really have anything else to offer him. I spend a lot of my free time running or biking, but not much time at the movie theatre (don’t have one), or at the driving range (don’t have one) or at the bowling alley (don’t have one and wouldn’t go there if we did.) Anyway, his question really got me thinking about my recreation time. That mixed with a deep desire to spend more quality time with my son, I came up with an idea… windsurfing. I called some island friends that work in water sports in the resorts and asked if they could help locate a used rig. So we got the rig this weekend. Braden and I love it. We spent the last two days in the lagoon near our island trying to figure out how to balance on the board and not allow the sail to yank us off. I wouldn’t say we mastered it, but we did learn how to ride it, turn it and avoid the coral when falling off. The photo above is Braden. It was taken on our first day by our neighbor.nnnnThe girls had a ladies weekend. Angie and Kyndal took advantage of the work permit rate at a nearby resort and spend two night together of female bonding. They had a great time, but I will let them tell you about that. So Braden and I had plenty of time to break-in the new-used windsurfing rig as well as play numerous games of Tiger Woods golf, Maden NFL and just play together as men. Great weekend of bonding with our kids.
