Guns

As I was cruising on my motorcycle yesterday on the main island, I looked up and on both sides were army men with M16s. Well I dont really know if that was the gun they were carrying, but it was a big gun and was not a shotgun or deer rifle (that is all I am really familiar with.) These guys were huge and fairly intimidating. We saw guys like this all over Sri Lanka, but they have just ended a 20 year war. What were these guys doing in the capital city of the islands? They were just strolling down the road sporting their weapons and green camo… which actually didn't camouflage them at all. They stood out.

So last night as I was working at the kitchen table, Angie called me over to the window at the front of our house. She said, “You gotta come see these guys.” Well, there they were again… Army guys walking down our street. There were four of them. I dont think they were the same guys, but still looked quite intimidating. It actually made me feel quite safe. I dont have any problems with these guys showing off their guns. My guess is that they are a gang task force…. at least I hope they are. We need that pretty bad. I felt like I had my own security guards.
