Adventure
I just got back from an adventure tour. Actually we had never done an adventure tour on this particular island. David and I took a tourist to set up future adventures. It was a lot of fun and very productive. I’ve been on a lot of fishing boats, but none like this. We left at midnight one night. We cruised for about an hour and found a spot to collect bait fish. It was amazing. There is no way I could tell you how many fish we got. It was a full moon and about 2AM when we started cruising for the open sea. I stayed awake all night. At about 5:15AM, the real fishing started. Two guys stood on the sides of the boat and threw handfuls of bait fish into the water and about 10 fishermen stood on the back of the boat with a cane pole and line. On the end of the line was a hook… no bait. A water pump sprayed water off the back of the boat to simulate little fish jumping. The captain of the boat would navigate the boat through the massive groups of fish and the guys would pull the fish in one after the other. As they pulled the cane pole back, the fish would fly over their heads and land in the boat. It was so cool. Our language was very limited, but we could communicate with the fishing crew. I need to keep working on speaking the local language.
We setup other parts of the tour as well. We met with Ahmed to arrange many things. I think we are all set for our October group to come in for the tour. David had a great time on the island. Seems like his time there earlier this summer was very productive. He really connected with the teachers in the school. They were eager to see him. It was kind of weird, it was like he knew more people than me. My very good friend Farooq took us to the lakes and Buddhist temple ruins. This new adventure will have different activities than the one we have in the north. The island in the south is much larger island (population 2000 or so) and the island in the north is a smaller island (population 500 or so.)
