First Language Lesson

We had our first language lesson today. It was a lot of fun. We asked our language helper to teach us parts of the body this week. So Rugy pointed to hair, eyes, lips, nose and every-other body part on the boa (head). We played boys against girls and Braden is a natural. He has a great memory… just like his mother, but I guess a little better because thanks to him, the boys won. He knew it all. Some of the words we remember and can actually say, but we are learning to hear the sounds and pointing to the parts as Rugy says them. We will do it this way for the first several lessons and then later begin to try to say the words. If my Spanish professor in college knew I was attempting to learn another language, he would laugh and cry at the same time. Two years in high school, four semesters in college and about all the Spanish I know is burrito. We will keep you posted on the progress.

This afternoon, Angie came to my office and asked me to join her at the market to purchase some food items. As we left my office, a police man stopped us and asked us to go back in the office. My office is located on the main road of our island and there were police and army guys (guys with guns) everywhere. Dont panic, it was just security. The president of Sri Lanka came to our country and was visiting and touring our island. Our island is man-made and I guess he wanted to check it out. We were only delayed for a 10 minutes or so, but we were able to look out my window and watch the president and his entourage ride around the island.

Braden had four friends over this afternoon. They sat in our living room and played Monopoly. Angie said it was really cool to watch them all play together. Kyndal went to a friends house this afternoon and was over there for most of the afternoon. It was a really fine day.

I updated one of the albums today. It is a new album called Funny Faces. I have this feature on my MAC computer (yeah apple) called Photo Booth. Basically it lets you take all these pictures and manipulates the photos. These are some of our funniest pics. Some of the pics dont look like us and some of them are not. However, dont be too quick to dismiss the pic as one of our friends. There are a few of Bobby that actually look like a totally different person.
