Home Sweet Home

Oh, where to begin? Well, I guess let me begin by saying how blessed I am with friends. My friend Pintu sent me an email on Saturday morning to ask me if I knew that our flight to the islands had been rescheduled for two hours earlier. At first we were stressed because of the plans we had for Saturday, but then we thought about getting home two hours earlier and thought this would be great. Unfortunately not only was our flight rescheduled, but it was rerouted as well causing us to get home an hour later than before. Anyway, I am grateful to Pintu for checking on me and taking care of me. We arrived in the islands on Sunday at 2 AM. Pintu, Shaheen, Nasha and Arey were waiting there for us. They helped us load our luggage onto the boat to head for our island. As the boat neared the jetty, I saw Thoyib waiting there with his truck. Thoyib owns the guest house on our island and I often put tourists in his guest house. So between 2 AM and 4 AM, we had some of our best friends help us get to our home. Wow, this is what it means to be “simply blessed.”

Our first day in the islands was nice. The weather feels great. The sky is overcast so it is cooler than normal. Our house was in great shape. I think Pintu and his wife Polly must have cleaned it while we were gone because nothing was dusty. After a few trips to the market, we got the necessities for a few meals. We are still trying to unpack our luggage. However we did unpack our new phone. We bought a Voyage phone while in the States. Voyage allows us to call unlimited to anywhere in the States and Canada for $24 per month. We tried it out last night and it worked great. We have a (325) area code number, so those in that area code can call us for free. There was no delay and it felt like we were next door when we were talking to our family. If you want the number, contact us and I’ll send it to you via email. I dont really want to post it on the blog.

I am planning to go to my office today and get some things done outside the house. So those of you waiting on travel stuff from me, maybe I can get that done today.

Thank you for praying for our safe travels. We are home where the towels are crispy, there’s sand in our living room, ants in the kitchen, friends at the front door, a beautiful view of the sea from our balcony, and our family is a free phone call away. Home sweet home.
