It’s all about balance…

Since we dont have training wheels and we are in the midst of the vernal equinox (that is when the sun shines directly on the equator – spring and fall for my friends in the northern hemisphere) and it gets hot here about 7:30am we have only had little practice with the new birthday present. Kyndal had a bike in the USA, but it had 4 wheels. There were 2 extra wheels in the back to keep her from falling over. Now she uses me to keep her from falling over. I came home from work yesterday and she was begging me to help her ride her bike. It was still so hot and daddy was so tired, I made an irrational decision and said I would get up early the next morning and we would ride before it got hot. Well I’m usually a bit irritated in the mornings and dont display my best patience. Let’s just say there were almost tears and the bike ride didnt last very long. So I am sure you can imagine how difficult it was for me to get Kyndal to give it another try this evening. Fortunately it rained most of the day and the clouds helped block the sun, and humidity was our only enemy. So was it the rain? Was it her determination? Was it my determination? Was it my patience (couldn’t have been that.) Or perhaps was it the tilt of the earth? I am not sure what it was, but something clicked and she figured out how to balance. I had to force her to ride and I had to force her to stop. It was all backwards from this morning. This morning she was laughing and smiling when she got on the bike and crying when she got off. This evening she was crying when she got on and laughing and smiling as she propped it on it’s kick stand. As she cruised by a friends house, he yelled something to Kyndal, but she said to me, “I cant look back, I have to concentrate on balancing.” Wow! What a statement. Seems like that applies to many areas of life. And we are all smiles when it “clicks” and we learn balance.
