Left is Right
I guess something happens when you move to the other side of the planet. You would think that we would be used to things being backwards. But it seems like everyday we discover a new backwards way of doing things. What is really on my mind was the situation at the Labor Ministry today. They seriously have some backwards ways of doing things. Even my local friends can attest to this. But to spare you the details of my venture to the government offices today, I'll just share a little backwards conversation I had with Kyndal today.
The title of this blog really came from our bike ride tonight. I was riding with Kyndal and she asked me if she was on the right side of the road. I told her yes, but that she was on the wrong side of the road too. (Here we drive on the left side of the road.) I told her that here, left is right and right is wrong. She gave me one of those I don't get it laughs. For those of you like Kyndal (blond roots) I will explain. To drive on the right side of the road here would be wrong. To drive on the left side of the road would be right (or correct) hence left is right.
However, left is not only right, in Asia left is wrong too… when it comes to your hand. Yeah, the left hand is not very popular in Asia. It gets all the dirty work… really. Ole lefty could also be named, “Nice & Soft”, “Charmin” or “Angel Soft.” How's that for a visual? Oh my goodness, I just did a google search to get the names of some toilet tissue to include in this post and found a link for “recycled toilet paper”… now that is backwards. Toilet tissue should be a one-time use only. Ok, sorry I will get back on the pointless subject I was on before I got derailed onto another pointless subject. So back to left is wrong. Since lefty is for the back door, it shouldn't be used for writing, eating, serving, high-fiving, or anything else in public. Don't even think about biting your fingernails… especially those on your left hand. Both Angie and Kyndal are left handed. That just makes us backwards. Right? I guess if you consider this situation then right is right.
So right is right, left is right, right is wrong. All this backwards talk begs the question.. What's right?
I'm not sure anymore.
Right on!
