Merry Christmas
The kids woke at 6:00AM this morning and eagerly woke us. We had told them no earlier than 6:30AM, but I guess in all the excitement, they forgot about that. With sleepy eyes and in my slumber state, I tried to negotiate 30 more minutes but I failed. I held them off long enough to get the camera and its a good think my camera has a fast shutter speed…. the present opening was over in a matter of minutes. It seems everyone is happy with the new toys.
The over thawed and undercooked turkey. Just after opening the gifts, Angie asked me to go to my office to get the turkey from the refrigerator there. Braden and I mounted the cycle and stopped to drop the garbage on the way. When we walked into the office, “bad smell was coming.” (That’s how our local friends say, “That stinks!.) Braden noted that my office always smells bad, but I knew this was a distinct stink. When Braden opened the small refrigerator, he said, ”bad smell is coming“ and ran out of the office. He was right, the bad smell was coming from the fridge. Apparently the power to the little refrigerator was shutoff between the time I bought the turkey and today. I phoned Angie to give her the bad news. She was immediately relieved of the big Christmas lunch responsibility. Braden and I stopped back by the garbage on the way home and left the turkey there. We are now waiting to catch the 12:30 boat to the main island for some Christmas curry. I think when we get back, Mom and Dad are due for a Christmas nap.
