My Best Friend Is Coming Tomorrow

Angie left on Wednesday morning to visit her cousin in Dubai and attend a woman’s conference. There is no doubt Angie needed a break. She truly is amazing. She left on Wednesday and so I was the teacher on Wednesday. We managed fine through school (because the real teacher had a great set of lesson plans for us to follow) the meals, play time and night time. Wow what a days work? How in the world does she do it every day, every week, every month? She deserved the break, but we have really missed her. She comes back tomorrow and we can’t wait!!!

I have to admit that we cheated a little. I needed to do a resort inspection. A resort inspection is where I visit the resort (usually during the day) and view the rooms, the service and the optional excursions. I do these inspections because it is better to sell a resort I have seen than to sell one I haven’t seen. I know its a rough life, but we manage. Ha Ha! Well I needed to do an inspection so I arranged for us (the three of us) to stay at the resort for two nights. No meals to cook, no dishes to wash, no house to clean. See I told you it was cheating. There is no question that I value my wife (read the first paragraph) and I didn’t need a week of her routine to remind me of how much I value her. However, 3 days and 2 nights at the resort reminded me of how much more I valued her. While the tasks of the day were practically absent, the desire for Angie’s company was almost unbearable. First of all most of the people at the resorts are couples…. only 3 families were there. Of those families, we were the only one without a mom and everyone wanted to know where she was. Some of them asked, and others just stared in pity or curiosity… not sure. Anyway, we missed her greatly and decided to never do that again without her. We did have fun snorkeling, floating around in a canoe, playing darts and drinking all the juice we wanted for free! We came back on a boat this morning and have spent the day washing our dirty clothes, making sure the house is like she likes it, fixing those things she’s been asking me to fix for weeks now, and counting the hours until we pick her up from the airport. All we have to do now is go to sleep and get up and go get her. She arrives at 7:55AM.

Angie rarely reads the blog and what I post. Its likely she will never see this. However I am not writing it for her. I just want the world to know how much I value her as a mother to our children and as partner in life. I am so thankful she said “yes” 14 years ago. She is my best friend. Can’t wait to see her tomorrow.
