My First Acupuncture
Fun fact for ya… Chinese medicine involves sticking tiny needles in ya. huh. I think if I had read up on Chinese physician methods I would have sought other treatment. ok, so here is the story…
I've had a knot in a back muscle for about a month. I've had these before, but Angie has always been able to massage them out. Well this one was just too tough. I went to a massage therapist about 2 weeks ago and she nearly made me cry doing a deep tissue massage, but the know remained. I finally decided that I was either going to the docs on my island or try out this Chinese clinic I saw on the main island. I have some Chinese friends and they swear by the Chinese methods. So after my consultation, the doctor… Dr Wei Wei, I know what a cool name, he told me he would like to do a 20 min acupuncture and a massage. I did ask what that meant and he showed me the package of needles he planned to stick into my back muscles. I racked my brain trying to think of a way out, but leaving would have left me feeling like a coward. So I stayed and took it like a man. They pulled the bench away from the wall so I could lay flat on the bench. He punched those needles in my back as if he enjoyed it. My arm was hanging off the bench for 20 min while these needles stayed in my back. He placed some sort of heat source near the needles… not sure what this was about, but it felt like my back was on fire. Oh, and when all the blood was rushing through to my hand because it was hanging off the bench I decided to move it… Oh, yeah, you shouldn't do that when you have needles stuck in your back muscles. The bell finally rang and my 20 min was up. I was so happy. He massaged my back a little and charged me 20 bucks. Right now it is still sore. I'm hoping the treatment will work… time will tell.
