New Colors

Last week we decided it was time to paint the house. I asked the landlord if we could paint at the same time he had some maintenance men working on the house. Good timing huh? I selected the colors and went to the paint store and bought the paint. The 2 men painted every wall in my house for $170. Not bad again (our house is only 1000 sq ft). It took them three days including the day to putty the water damaged spots.

So our house is no longer mint green. Ya, we never chose mint green in the first place… it chose us. That was the color of the 3 bedrooms when we moved in. Fortunately, the living area was a cream color and still is. We did chose a wall in the living room and had the guys paint and accent wall. Its burgundy. Not really our first choice, but we were kind of limited on colors of paint. It goes with our floor rug.

I think I mentioned earlier that I had some shelves made. These shelves have clothes rods on them and will be used as drying racks in each bedroom. These were long overdue. I had the painters mount them on the wall for an extra $8. The guys did a great job, so I tipped them and extra $30.

So we have new colors and moved every piece of furniture in our house (some pieces more than once.) We cleaned areas I haven't seen since we moved in. It feels super clean and new.

Our kids are now in their own rooms again. Our anticipated house guest ended up not needing to stay with us so we decided to allow the kids to have their own rooms. I think they really like it, but Kyndal noted the other night, “I miss talking to Braden at night before I go to sleep.” Wish I would have eavesdropped on some of those conversations before I separated them. However, I was usually barking from the living room… “Go to sleep!” (One of the times I sound just like my dad.) I could hear the faint conversations but never knew what they were about, only that they were happening while they were supposed to be going to sleep. Another missed chance.
