REACH LC
We have been working hard to get our language school “up and running” and well… we are still working on it. “Up and running” is an idiom and we used it in our promotion to teach the definition of an idiom. We have decorated our classroom, created a registration system, selected and received the curriculum, arranged recruited volunteer teachers (this is ongoing – we need help in January), publicized and received permission from the local government.
Yesterday, our family stood at the boat ferry terminal (the only public entrance and exit out our island) and handed out papers about learning English. David and Piper and our part-time employee manned the classroom waiting for registrations. We had several interested people come to the classroom and get more information and some had registered. We are so excited. Right now our registration is at 10. I am in the classroom right now, hoping that more people will come in to registered today.
We know that word will spread fast about our class (once it get's into the right ears.) We would like to have 20-30 students for our first set of classes. However we are content with 10 and know we can at least start.
If you would like to volunteer with us, check out our website at www.reach-lc.com. Feel free to pass on the information to retired teachers, college students or anybody else that can give a month or so of their time. We will keep you posted. Our first classes are set to start August 2. Our next round of classes will begin on January 10. Classes will run until April 28. We need 2-3 English teachers for this time. If you can only work for part of the time, we will take what you can offer.
