The Flight

I am blogging from Dubai. One of the benefits of flying so stinking far is the miles you rack up with the airline. My miles get me access to the Business Lounge in Dubai with free internet, food and compfy chairs.

I (Bobby) am heading back to the islands. I just got off a 16 hour flight from Houston to Dubai. I thought I had it it made. I had requested an exit row… got it. Sweet leg room. The plane was full but the two seats next to me were empty. Could it be? An exit row without a neighbor. What could be better? I know what could be better… Business Class and their recliners. Just as the doors were closing to the plane… there they came. A family of 4 (two adults and 2 kids) from Pakistan. The kids were not old enough to have seats by themselves so they got to share with their parents… and me. Ugh. Apparently the kids cant sit in the exit row during landing and take off, but they can sit (and I use that term very loosely) there the remaining 15 hours and 55 minutes. The little girl kept screaming… not sure what about either. She would just randomly scream. The dad was engrossed in his sons PlayStation and couldn’t see that his son was licking the seat and stealing food off my food tray.

I’m now sitting in the lounge. It’s noon in the States. It’s 9:14 pm here. I left my house in San Angelo at 4:30 AM on the 14th. I spent 12 hours in Houston waiting for my flight. I’ve now been in transit 31 hours… only 13 more hours to go. Man this is a long haul. O-well…

I had some friends in the states that said that when they read our blog they feel like they are living overseas through us. Well, hope you enjoyed the flight.

If you see my wife and kids… give them a hug and a kiss for me. The are in San Angelo. Braden starts flag football next week and Kyndal starts cheerleading. They all start back to school.
