The Park
Today is the day of our weekly family meeting. We meet together in the living room to sing, read and talk together. Not that we dont do this at other times, but we plan for it on Saturdays. It was a lot of fun. We play music from the iPOD and hook the computer up to the TV so that we can all read the words to the songs. I have always been kind of techy geek like that. Anyway, after the meeting, we decided we would go to the main island. We needed to buy more bottled water and the kids needed to get their books from the children’s library. We had planned to play at a park while were there, so we took the American football with us. Braden and I tossed the ball around for a while and then noticed some kids sitting on the side watching us. Braden offered to throw the ball to them, but the shook their head no. After Braden threw it to me, I just threw it to the boys without asking them. Ten seconds later the boys had doubled in number and having a great time. After throwing the ball for a few minutes, one of the boys turned to me and said, “What is that?” I said, “It’s an American football.” He said, “I think I have heard of that.” I showed them how to grip it and throw it. We had a blast. They want us to come back next Saturday and throw with them again. Braden and I will plan to go back.
We took some pictures of our day and have posted them here.
Oh, one more thing. Props to the Walters for the Taco Bell seasoning. So many of our friends have sent us stuff to help us adjust, but I have to say, the taco seasoning really hit the spot tonight and deserves some special attention. We have been having traditional meals here that involve the same flavoring for every meal (fish and rice). Angie has learned how to make tortillas (we call them roti here) so we had some good ole mexican food tonight. Well we didn’t have refried beans, but we added the Taco Bell taco seasoning to some chicken and threw it on some roti and had ourselves a chicken burrito. Our burritos were accompanied with steamed white rice. I know, not exactly Mexican, but it is a staple in these parts. Any-who, my taste buds were having a fiesta and I thought you all ought to know.
