The School Saga

We had to make some changes in our school situation. We had enrolled the kids into a private school on the main island. We thought this was going to be a great opportunity for both us and the kids. During the first week of school, we shared some of our concerns about our kids being in the library for 10 periods a week because our kids were not participating in Islam, Dhivehi, and Quran and Arabic. We thought that an “International School” would have options for international students…. we thought wrong. Our concerns were pushed aside and ignored. Angie offered to utilize the time when both kids were in the library to volunteer teach American History and she was denied. In addition, the teaching and testing methodology was proving to be insufficient. It was already very difficult to get the kids too school and home from school since they had to take a bus, a boat and a car each way. We decided that we were not getting our money's worth. We pulled the kids out of school on April 2. We re-enrolled Braden into the international school on our island and Angie is again homeschooling Kyndal. Both Angie and Kyndal wish she could attend the international school with Braden, but her grade is not offered this year. We are hoping she will have the opportunity next year. Braden's school is run by a group from Turkey and Kyndal is using a curriculum from the internet. So here we go again…. more first days of school.
