Update on Angie

Thank you to all of you who have been praying for Angie. She is actually feeling very well. We had a doctor visit yesterday….

The American doctor confirmed…. – Angie has Crohn’s Disease – click here if you want to read a brief description of Crohn’s Disease. – The doctor in Dubai did all the correct tests and the American doctor completely agreed with his assessment. – The medication Angie is on is the right medication for her. She should continue the medication. – Crohns has “flare ups” that have different symptoms and they don’t really know what causes them. Although diet may affect the symptoms in patients with Crohn’s disease, it is unlikely that diet is responsible for the disease itself. Fortunately, Angie has not had any flare ups since we have been in the USA. Angie’s symptoms are mostly abdominal pain. Their are many other symptoms that most Chron’s patience have, but fortunately Angie does not have to deal with these. Common symptoms of Crohn’s disease include abdominal pain, diarrhea, and weight loss. Less common symptoms include poor appetite, fever, night sweats, rectal pain, and rectal bleeding. The symptoms of Crohn’s disease are dependent on the location, the extent, and the severity of the inflammation. – He thinks holistic doctors and methods are “voo-doo medicine.” – He told us ibuprofen can affect the disease in a negative way. She currently takes ibuprofen for head-aches. She will need to start taking something else.

Doctors have been trying to prove that diet is the cause of Crohn’s for more than 40 years. Although there is no scientific evidence that it causes the disease there are thoughts that diet can affect the symptoms. Since the disease will not go away… (outside of Divine healing) we feel we should learn how to best deal with the symptoms… and continue to pray for complete healing. Our plan is to have Angie tested for certain food allergies. We know that the immune system produces proteins to help protect the body against viruses, fungi and harmful bacteria. In the case of Crohn’s the immune system overly active. We want to try to help the immune system to not have to work as hard.

Where do we go from here…

  1. We continue to pray to God for complete healing.

  2. We get Angie checked for food allergies and see if we can curb some of the symptoms.

Thanks for walking this road with us.
