Vacation Day 5

Today started at 3:30AM when Angie had to go to the bathroom. She woke me up and asked me if I would escort her in the dark. It was cold, dark and still as we huddled and walked together 40 yards to the bathroom. While I was waiting for her, I watch the sky. It was amazing. There were stars everywhere. I could see the Milky Way and several constellations. If it hadn’t been 3:30am I’m sure I could have recognized more. I saw 3 or 4 shooting stars before heading back to bed.

After breakfast, Braden and I set off for an epic bike ride. We decided to tackle the mountain in this photo.

The trail was steep and rocky. It took us almost 3 hours to get to the top and about 45 min to get down. We were prepared with lots of water, extra bike tubes, and an air pump. We only had to change one flat the whole time. We didn’t see any bears… just some deer, chipmunks, birds and some bear tracks.

There was only one crash. Braden witnessed me going over my handlebars as we were coming down. The trails were filled with loose rocks and I must have gotten a little zealous with my front break. The whole ride was about 12 miles long… and yes half of it was not just uphill, but upmountain.

We saw some breathtaking views.

While the boys were on the mountain, Angie went for a jog around the park with Kyndal as an escort on her bike. They did some much needed laundry at the RV park.

We were invited to join the seniors at the park pavilion for a pot luck dessert. We didn’t have anything to bring, but they insisted we come. We visited and ate homemade apricot ice cream.

We finished off the night with another board game.
