Vitamin C… Good for Kids, Not Computers.
Well I have good news and I have bad news. You can probably decipher from the title that we are being good parents and doing our best to provide our kids with the earth’s richest nutrients and natural vitamins. However, in this land, the task is much more difficult. Now everybody faces similar challenges of encouraging their children to eat their vegetables and take vitamins, so we have to resort to whatever means are necessary.
The other day Angie and the kids took their usual morning break from school. During the break it is pretty common that they share a snack and Angie reads to them. The kids love the time together and love it when she reads to them. Well for the last week, they have been doing work on the floor above us and the floor below us. There is hammering, cutting, chiseling, sawing and lots of noise. Well this particular day, the noise was especially loud in our dinning/living/kitchen combo room. They decided to move to Braden’s room for the snack so it would be a little quieter. It was at this time that things took a very unfortunate turn.
Braden was sitting at the desk in his room with his orange juice next to the family laptop. Braden uses the laptop to watch his math lessons on the computer. Well as Angie was reading, Braden in his 9-year old fashion, accidently spilled his Vitamin C filled orange juice into the keyboard of the laptop. We have discovered that while Vitamin C is good for kids, it’s not so good for laptops. Angie quickly ran out to get something to clean it up and because she left so quickly, Kyndal thought the computer was going to catch on fire so she jumped up and ran to the front door of the house, but on her way out she spilled her juice on the floor. As Angie was cleaning up the mess, Braden moved over to the window and kicked Angie’s water over on the way.
Angie cleaned up the mess and brought the laptop to my office. It just squealed and beeped when I tried to turn it on. It now is at the service center where we took it just a month ago when the mother board crashed. So all of you waiting on an email from Angie and the kids, you will just have to wait longer. We should know something on the computer in a week or so. For now, Angie will have to check her email via Internet Explorer. While this is possible, it presents a whole new learning curve for Angie.
This event was not so funny yesterday (the day it happened) but we laugh about it today. It’s ok, you can laugh too.
